Tianhao (David) Zhang is a young composer, programmer, audio technologist, and music theorist from Zhejiang, China. His work includes composition, sound design, audio implementation for video games, and musicology research.


After completing his secondary education in China, Zhang studied with Professors Thomas Dolby and Christopher Kennedy at the Peabody Institute in Baltimore, US - majoring in Music for New Media. After graduation, he continues musical research in a graduate program at Peabody majoring in Computer Music. He is now studying with Professor Bryan Jacobs.


Zhang believes that video game, as a new media, is an emerging form of art with exciting possibilities for innovation. Many of his works are related to interactive music and sound effects in games. He has experience in designing the sounds as well as programming the interactivities into the game programs utilizing game-audio middleware, specifically Wwise. 


Zhang’s music explores the boundaries between genres: from the traditional to the modern and the classical to the popular. Stylistically, his work encompasses romanticism, east Asian, jazz, and electroacoustic.
